A BIT ABOUT
ME…
Woof and Ready dog grooming in Derby is run by myself Kate Youson. I am a dog owner myself and love my little Patterdale Terrier; she is my best friend. I understand the importance of leaving your dog with someone you can trust and knowing your dog is in the safest and caring hands. I became a professionally qualified dog groomer and studied at Broomfield College to gain the OCN Level 2 Award in Dog Grooming back in 2013. Since then I have also taken part in further advanced courses, visit the world famous Crufts Dog Show every year and attend various grooming seminars and days to keep up to date with new styling techniques. As our business has expanded I have been able to take on a trainee also named Kate who is doing a super job and keeping all tails wagging.
THE SALON…
The Woof and Ready salon has been converted inside a part of my home which means when your dog comes to visit she is treated like one of my own in a relaxed and quite atmosphere. Our top of the range facilities are suitable for all breeds, from extra large to tiny dogs (and puppies of course!) We have a special electronic grooming table which lowers right down to the floor enabling your dog to just hop on and off, we have an extra large bath especially made for dogs that’s non slip and they can walk up a ramp too and be bathed with warm water and adjustable water jets to deeply cleanse and remove dirt and loose hair for a deep cleaning wash. All of our equipment is professional, regularly maintained and thoroughly cleaned between dogs on each groom. Depending on your dogs coat type we can recommend one of our Groomers specially formulated shampoos and have some deliciously scented coat conditioning sprays to finish. We have special shampoos for dogs with allergies and can recommend natural organic alternatives for dogs suffering with itchy or dry skin.
THE GROOM…
At Woof and Ready we can provide anything from a simple bath and dry to a full clip and style. With every full groom, a basic health check, nail clipping, ear cleaning/plucking and emptying anal glands if requested are routine. Specialist hand-stripping and scissor-finishes are provided upon request. Every dog and it’s owner and has different wants and needs, I have found that part of dog grooming is all about listening to the owner requests, I am happy to groom to the breed standard cut or however you prefer your dog to look. If you have a particular photo of your dog in the style you love please feel free to bring it along and show me. We recommend for most dogs to come to the grooming salon every 6 to 8 weeks for a full groom, although everyone knows that sometimes your dog decides at the most inappropriate occasion to jump into a muddy ditch or roll in anything smelly he can find, so if your pooch just needs a good bath, dry and brush then we offer this service only too.
WHY GROOMING IS IMPORTANT FOR ANY DOGS
Grooming should be a part of a dog owners everyday life. It is important whether you have a short, curly, silky or wire haired dog. Apart from you pet looking fabulous and feeling great there are health benefits. By keeping your pets coat in a good condition by brushing alone can reduce the chance of skin problems, alert you to any lumps and bumps that may appear under the coat that need the vets attention and build a close relationship between you and your furry friend.
PUPPY FAMILIARISATION
It is good practice for your dog to visit the groomer from the age of 3 months onwards, get him used to having his nails trimmed and the sound of the dryer, this also has benefits of bonding and building trust between human and canine creating a positive, enjoyable experience for years to come.
